Hey, guys. This is a tablet. Not an oversized smartphone.

I'm Eric Franklin and once again, this has been a first look at the Acer Iconia Tab A100.

I know it can be confusing but that's what the 7-inch tablet market is to me sometimes confusing. That doesn't mean however that there aren't users out there interested in tablets but think 9 or 10 inch tablets are too big and that their smartphones aren't big enough.

Well, there's probably some free in discussion just waiting to happen here but only if we have time to dealt too deeply into that. Luckily, I do have time to take a first look at the Acer Iconia Tab A100.

This is Acer's followup to the A500 release a few a months ago.

It looks kind of like a smaller version of that tablet. It, of course, has a 7-inch display. But, unlike IPS screens of most Honeycomb tablets, this one [unk] and display and as a result has a narrower view in angle than what we're used too.

At the bottom of the tablet here are its speakers, Micro-HDMI port, and Micro-USB.On the other side is the volume rocker and lock switched which keeps the screen from rotating.There's also a headphone jack next to the power button and microphone pinhole with a microSD card slot on the other side. On the front bezel is a hardware home button and on the other end is a 2-megapixel camera. On the back is a 5-megapixel camera and flash bulb.

The A100's dimensions are about the same as HTC's 7-incher and like most 7-inchers, it doesn't really fit into your pocket.The tablet runs a slightly altered version of Honeycomb that includes Acer's clear [unk] media aggregator and a few unique setting options like setting the screen to never time out.

The 16GB version of the A100 is available for $350. But, the 8GB version is available around $330.
