  • Asus Eee Pad Transformer

Introducing the Eee Pad Transformer TF101 with optional keyboard docking station from ASUS. Surf the Web and watch movies in tablet mode. Compose emails and update social media status in PC mode. The versatile Eee Pad Transformer is the perfect tablet, transforming the conventional, into the unconventional.

    When Tablet meets Keyboard

Breaking the mold, an optional keyboard docking station designed especially for the Eee Pad Transformer transforms your tablet into a full-fledged PC with a QWERTY keyboard with Unique Android Function (FN) Keys for added convenience.

Featuring all of the connectivity you'd expect in your PC, the Eee Pad Transformer comes complete with USB 2.0 ports, a headphone audio jack and a 4-in-1 card reader. Also to keep you unplugged longer without interruption, the optional keyboard docking station extends the battery life to an astounding 16 hours.

    When Android meets Tegra

Designed specifically with tablets in mind, the Android Honeycomb 3.1 operation system provides you with optimized features and functions such as multi-touch and holographic interface that allows you to access widgets and shortcuts with ease. Get refined multitasking, rich notifications, Home screen customization, widgets, and more. And experience the web with Adobe Flash Player 10.2

Together with the world's first mobile super chip, NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 brings the faster, most visually-rich tablet experience. The Eee Pad Transformer contains the first mobile dual-core CPU, providing extreme multitasking capability with the best Web experience - up to two times faster browsing, hardware accelerated Flash, and NVIDIA® GeFoce® gaming.

    When Multimedia meets Functionality

Experience the wonders of video chat and crisp digital photography with front (1.2MP) and rear (5MP) facing digital cameras, which can be played back in video on HDTVs via a mini HDMI output port, making it a true mobile entertainment device. Built in SRS Sound technology also provides a dynamic 3D stereo audio experience with maximum base response and a wide sound field from the built-in speakers.

Add on ASUS' WaveShare interface with a variety of applications such as Gallery, Music, MyNet, MyCloud and MuLibrary the help you easily launch software, manage content and access online service and connect devices with a few simple taps.

How ASUS is revolutionizing the Student PC

The Transformer sets itself apart from other tablets on the market by featuring an optional keyboard docking station - making this the only tablet to consider for college.

A first look at the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Tablet from CNET editors.

Hey everyone, I'm Eric Franklin and today, we're taking a first look at the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet. This is a Wi-Fi only, contract-free tablet winning Google's Android Honeycomb OS with 16 gigabytes of storage and at the very appealing price of $399.

Earlier this week, we looked at the T-mobile G-Slate stating that it's slightly lower price and additional features made it a better deal than the Xoom on Verizon. The transformer, however, has the lowest price we've seen so far on a Honeycomb tablet and it's even cheaper in the lowest price iPad 2.

The transformer's 10.1-inch screen is capacitive touch IPS, which means it has viewing angles that matches the best tablets out there. It includes a mini HDMI port for outputting HD content to your TV or monitor. You also get a 2-megapixel camera on the front and a 5-megapixel camera on the back. Concerning the OS, this is pretty much the stock android experience.

However, ASUS does have some preinstalled widgets for weather and mail notifications on the home screen. Also while previous Honeycomb tablets max your screen output times at 30 minutes, I personally appreciated the transformer's ability to set the timer to never. With this many takes as I require, and this is probably like my 8th, it makes doing these videos a lot less frustrating for everyone involved.

The ASUS is just a bulky as the Xoom and G-Slate and slightly heavier. It's also the longest Honeycomb tablet we've come across. Compared to the iPad 2, the difference in size especially its thickness is dramatic and obvious. So, why it is called the transformer? Well, because if you pay an extra $150, you can get an add-on in the form of a docking station/keyboard that kinds of turns it into a sort of a netbook. The keyboard includes a multitouch touch pad, SD card slot, 2 USB ports, and its own battery. We're glad to Honeycomb available on more affordable tablets like the ASUS as well as the Acer Iconia tab.
